Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 came into force fully on 1 January 2005. It gives any person the right of access to “recorded” information held by public authorities in Scotland. Once an individual makes a request for information, the public authority has 20 working days to respond, subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
